2023 Roundup: Shocking Disasters Of The Year

2023 Roundup: Shocking Disasters Of The Year

The Telugu film industry faces a higher number of disappointments than successes, sustaining a meager 5-6 percent success rate throughout its history. This trend persists into the current year, where out of numerous releases, merely 5-6 managed significant profits.

Conversely, some films experienced unforeseen failures, with Adipurush securing the top spot among these disappointments.

Adipurush: Adipurush, featuring Prabhas as the lead, is a high-budget film and one of the significant financial investments of the year.

Unfortunately, it garnered negative reviews from its very first day of release, ultimately leading to its categorization as a disaster.

Even Prabhas' fanbase expressed dissatisfaction with the film directed by Om Raut.

The situation worsened with the addition of controversies and court cases, compounding the film's troubles and contributing to its overall failure.

Bhola Shankar: Bhola Shankar secures a spot in the top two list of major disasters. Chiranjeevi's starring film faced failure across the board. Mega fans were left silent, and the story took a more disheartening turn.

By the week's end, Bhola Shankar earned the unfortunate distinction of being the biggest disaster in Chiranjeevi's career. Beyond negatively impacting Chiranjeevi's reputation, it also dealt a blow to his market standing.

Agent: Agent stands as one of the major letdowns in 2023. Beyond affecting the producer, this film featuring Akhil incurred substantial losses for all involved.

Had Akhil considered the market and opted for a more budget-friendly approach, it might have been a safer venture.

Unfortunately, with everyone already facing setbacks, the movie became a let down for all parties involved.

Shakuntalam: Samantha's "Shakuntalam" turned out to be a complete failure. Director Gunasekhar and investor Dil Raju made significant investment on the film.

Unfortunately, the theatrical revenue could not recover even 30 percent of the investment. The non-theatrical earnings still stand, representing a portion of the money recovered.

Ravanasura and Tiger Nageshwara Rao: The movie Ravanasura is be a colossal disaster. While Ravi Teja has faced setbacks before, especially after hits like Dhamaka and Waltair Veerayya, the magnitude of this failure surprised many.

Another film featuring Ravi Teja, Tiger Nageswara Rao, has also found its place in this list of disappointments this year.

All Mega Heroes With Flops: This year witnessed a downturn for nearly all mega heroes. Movies like Chiranjeevi's Bhola Shankar, Pawan Kalyan-Saidharam's Bro, Vaishnav Tej's Adikesava, and Varun Tej's Gandeevadhaari Arjuna failed to make an impact at the box office. Notably, Ram Charan and Allu Arjun did not release any films this year.

Other Notable Flops: Despite expectations, this year has seen more surprising failures than successes. Even with the anticipated success of the Boyapati-Ram combination, the film Skanda failed to make an impact.

Similarly, Ramabanam, expected to soar, turned out to be a misfire. Even though Custody aimed for satisfaction, it couldn't compete.

The series of letdowns extended to films like Extra Ordinaryman, Amigos and Spy in Tollywood. Despite high expectations, these movies failed to meet them.

There are many small and mid range films released with no expectations and ended up as complete disappointments.
