2019 Roundup: A Mixed Bag For Mega Heroes

2019 Roundup: A Mixed Bag For Mega Heroes

This year has been a mixed bag for the actors from Mega family. Megastar Chiranjeevi has finally fulfilled his dream of playing Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy's character. His son Ram Charan made this dream come true by making the movie on a grand scale. Surender Reddy wielded the megaphone and had done a commendable job at it. However, the makers couldn't gauge the film's reach and targeted pan India market, which turned out to be a mistake.

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy has done phenomenally well in Telugu markets by posting the best numbers after Baahubali movies. But it didn't click outside Telugu states. Megastar and Charan wouldn't be too disappointed with the film's performance on a whole as it had recovered its costs through theatrical and non-theatrical avenues. Also, it will be remembered as one of the best characters that Chiranjeevi has ever essayed on screen.

Pawan Kalyan didn't do any films this year but debuted in politics which turned out to be a nightmare for his fans. They couldn't defend the fact that Pawan has lost two seats that he contested from. Despite claiming to stick to politics full time, Pawan is making time for movies again. He will be doing the remake of Pink in Telugu for Dil Raju's production soon.

Ram Charan, as an actor, would want to forget this year as Vinaya Vidheya Rama turned out to be a dismal film that he had to apologize to his fans even before the film was out of theaters. Boyapati Srinu's attempt to make a power packed mass masala film with Ram Charan backfired big time. However, Ram Charan fans aren't too bothered about VVR's result as the actor is currently doing RRR with Rajamouli and Tarak.

Allu Arjun is out of action this year as he took a long break post Naa Peru Surya. He took his own sweet time to start Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo with Trivikram that will release for Sankranthi. Although Allu is not seen on the big screen, songs from AVPL turned out to be huge hits and helped his fans get over the fact that he missed out on 2019.

Varun Tej is on the rise as he continue to pick different genres and characters all the time. He scored a blockbuster with F2 in which he teamed up with Venkatesh and he played a character with grey shades in Gaddalakonda Ganesh, which is also termed as a hit by the trade. Varun Tej has become a bankable actor at the box office and has been slowly building a fan base for himself.

Sai Dharam Tej dropped the middle name from his name and seems to have found luck with his new screen name Sai Tej. He surely learnt from his past mistakes and has been picking right subjects that showcase him as the boy next door. Chitralahari helped him bounce back from the streak of disasters and Prathi Roju Pandage is on course to put him back in the reckoning.
