Well, that's the latest question doing rounds in the industry of late. It is known that AR Rahman who was the first choice for the film let go of the project saying he could not give the time required for the project.
Since then hunt has been on for a suitable replacement. Had it been a smaller project, any other music director would have fitted the bill.
Thaman who has been associated with the project at some level would have sufficed too. But since it is a rather prestigious project for Chiranjeevi and since the next music director must take the place of AR Rahman, the team is on the lookout for someone who has national fame.
So, Keeravani has been the only option for the team. For starters, he is a known name in Tollywood, Kollywood and Bollywood and he has the tag of being the music director of Baahubali series.
But there is only one problem here -- to get him to oblige and make good tunes. Just in case, the team is not happy with a tune, it is tough to get a music director of his reckoning to replace the tune.
Another issue for the team is the remuneration of Keeravani, who is bound to charge nothing less than Rs 3 crore for a big film like Sye Raa.
Talk in industry is that discussions have already been held with the involvement of Rajamouli and that the team is now awaiting the nod from Keeravani. If he says yes, the music sittings will start soon, say industry insiders.
Meanwhile, Keeravani is doing Savyasachi, being directed by Chandu Mondeti. It is known that Chandu Mondeti happens to be a die-hard fan of Keeravani's family. This apart, Keeravani also has NTR-Charan's film to be directed by Rajamouli.
