Lyricist Ramajogayya Sastry has been facing severe backlash from Prabhas fans for the amateurish lyrics he penned for the first single of Prabhas’ upcoming film The Raja Saab.
Responding to the criticism, Ramajogayya tweeted: “Katha, sandarbham, director vision thaginattu paata untundhi. Prathi paata elevation ayinaa bore koduthundhi kadha. Adhe kaavaalante marosari raasukundhaam. Mana daggara leni saruka enti; mana darling kosamegaa.”
The tweet itself was unclear, but the line “Mana daggara leni saruka enti” rubbed many netizens the wrong way, who found it arrogant.
A netizen replied: “Don’t overrate yourself. Learn to be humble. Your so-called ‘saruku’ is nothing before great poets like Seetharama Sastry, Veturi and Chandrabose. Even new lyricists are writing better than you.”
Another commented, “Elevation or feel-good, whatever the genre, the lyrics must be good enough to sing along. If there’s another song, please write catchy lyrics this time.”
A third user wrote, “Sirivennela Sitaramasastry garu wrote lines like ‘height enthuntaado kolavalani pisthe…’ and ‘mechanical lab lo metals ku rekulu…’ On the other side he wrote ‘chalore chalore chal…’ That’s called variation. Variation undaali guruji”
Another asked bluntly, “Lyrics meeru raasaraa? Mi abbayi raasaraa? All experiments should be on us only aa?”
One more user criticised, ‘Vachina avakaasam vadilese marosari antam’ is not fair"
Another, while posting part of the lyrics, said, “Is this a Telugu song or a Hindi song? 90% is Hindi/English and just 4 lines of Telugu like some filler!”
A separate comment read, “If a song gets a good name, Ramajogayya takes credit. If it gets a bad name, he says it’s the director’s vision and taste. A big escapist.”
This is not the first time Ramajogayya has been trolled. Earlier, Mahesh Babu fans attacked him for a tweet that allegedly referred to fans as “dogs.”
Later, he made a remark supporting Devara, saying “evari pani ni vaallu chesukonisthe result Devara laa avutundi”, which was interpreted as a dig at the mega compound, implying that Acharya flopped due to interference. Sources mention that has irked mega compound, though they didn't express openly.
Those controversies were considered slips of the tongue, but this time the backlash is directly aimed at his professional output as a lyricist.
Fans feel he must work harder and prove himself, especially to Prabhas’ fans, considering the expectations on their star's film.
