Hot topic in movie industry is that top producer Dil Raju has landed in huge trouble. Tax department has summoned him twice in the recent past for evading GST.
He is facing tax evasion charges from the Central Taxes department as his company reportedly didn’t file GST properly.
He is said to have collected 18% GST from his distributors and other vendors but the same wasn’t reported to the tax department in the last seven months.
As the officials found that he has tried evading tax to the tune of Rs 7 Cr, the officials summoned him to appear before them.
Dil Raju will now have to pay 100% fine. He reportedly didn’t file GST for the films like “DJ”, “MCA” and “Fidaa”.
GST is new tax which requires the producers to pay to the government every month. Since this is newly introduced some producers are still accommodating to the new methods.
Dil Raju may escape stringent punishment as GST is new tax but this already has sent shivers down the spine of many producers.
