Veteran Telugu star Nandamuri Balakrishna, currently enjoying a career high with hits like Akhanda and Veera Simha Reddy, is reportedly all set to make his Tamil film debut with a special appearance in Jailer 2.
The much-anticipated sequel will see him share screen space with superstar Rajinikanth, playing a fierce and upright police officer in what’s described as a high-impact cameo.
A source close to the project revealed, “Yes, NBK has agreed to be part of Jailer 2. He was impressed with the powerful role director Nelson pitched and is excited about the shoot. Though it’s a guest role, it’s strong and impactful — exactly what Balakrishna was looking for. Fans are going to love his presence.”
In the first Jailer, director Nelson Dilipkumar brought together a massive star lineup with cameo appearances from Shivaraj Kumar, Mohanlal, and Jackie Shroff — each generating massive buzz and boosting the film’s box office appeal.
Nelson had previously expressed interest in including a Tollywood star like Chiranjeevi or Balakrishna in Jailer, but the script didn’t allow for it at the time.
“Balakrishna sir was always on my mind, but I couldn’t write a fitting role back then. For Jailer 2, the part is tailor-made,” Nelson said in an earlier interview.
Balakrishna is expected to appear in flashback sequences as a tough cop from Andhra Pradesh — echoing his iconic roles in Rowdy Inspector and Lakshmi Narasimha — and will reportedly have powerful scenes with Rajinikanth.
If confirmed, Jailer 2 will mark Balakrishna’s first-ever special appearance in a Tamil film, setting the stage for an electrifying pan-India cinematic moment.
