'Animal', A Copied Version Of 'Jaanwar'?

'Animal', A Copied Version Of 'Jaanwar'?

There is a proverb, "Crying over spilt milk". Well, the milk was spilt 9 months ago and now the sound of someone's cry is heard!

We are talking about the film 'Animal' by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.

Suneel Darshan, a well known filmmaker, recently shared his belief that the story of the film Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, closely resembles his 1999 movie Jaanwar, which featured Akshay Kumar.

In an interview, he spoke about how several of his past films have been copied over time and gently suggested that Animal may have taken more than just inspiration from Jaanwar.

When asked about remaking his own films, Darshan replied, "How can I make them again? So many people have already copied them."

He referred to Jaanwar, then questioned, “What is the English word for Jaanwar? What is its story? Have you seen Animal? Then you know what story it is.”

His words hinted at a strong similarity between the two films without directly accusing anyone.

Darshan explained that both Jaanwar and Animal tell stories of troubled men who face violence, emotional struggles and eventually seek redemption.

While Jaanwar follows a criminal who changes for a child he adopts, Animal shows a man seeking his father's love while dealing with inner rage and trauma. The themes of love, violence and transformation connect both films deeply.

Although Darshan praised the director of Animal for treating the film in a unique way, he said it would have been better if the makers had admitted the story’s roots.

So far, no one from the Animal team has responded.
