The wise men say that the three vices that lead to self destruction are –Wine, Wealth and Women. There was a time when this meant only for the men but today, it applies for the women as well. The growing rate of divorces, feminist rights etc are some of the examples for that. While that anguish can be understood, here is one thing which is causing a concern. The inclination of ladies towards alcohol…
Agreed equal rights are a fair demand but it would not apply for drinking. Anyways, coming to the point- Drinking is forbidden to the ladies for many reasons. For starters, a round or two makes the women go tipsy and instances of many ending up in bed with strangers without their knowledge are common. Given the high hold for integrity and chastity, this is definitely a strict ‘no’ for the ladies. While some may call men drinking as normal, the fact remains that even today anyone who drinks is considered inferior and of wrong character by many in the Indian society. So, one can imagine the situation when women take to the bottle.
The most important peril for ladies is their physical composition. Just like how men are prone to various illnesses, women who drink stand a great risk of problems in conceiving and their immunity levels become relatively weak in a rapid way. The trend of drinking may be normal in western world but in countries like ours, it gives a cheap impression. More than what the society thinks or the health constraint drinking is a vice which throws a challenge to one’s self-control and weakness.
Taking the instance of a family, if a man drinks then his wife suffers but if the wife drinks then the entire family suffers. So ladies, drinking can be tagged as ‘culture’ ‘modern style’ ‘fashion’ etc, but remember that there is only one bottomline truth to it and that is…serious repercussions in life.
