Los Angeles: Telugu Association of Southern California 2013 MahilaVijayanama Ugadi volleyball and cooking competitions that took place on April 27th have been a roaring success. The venue aroused feelings of nostalgia among the attendees. The TASC EC under the leadership of president Nagesh made all the arrangements for the event. 22 volleyball teams participated in the tournament.
The tournament was conducted in ‘Round robin method” and Arcadia royal won the cup under the dynamic captaincy of Suneel Relangi. Cypress rockers stood runner-up and Irvine lions occupied the third place.
TASC community services chair Jaipal Reddy organized the tournament with the help of other chairs Koti Reddy, Bayapa, Mallik, Buchi Reddy, Ravindra, Praveen, Venu and Ram Kodithala.
Uppada Cooking competition received 37 entries for main course, 27 types of desserts and 32 types of appetizers. TASC senior women leaders Prabha Rao, Sridevi Upadyayula , Jaya Rambabu and Vidya Kancharla were among the attendees. After the unprejudiced evaluation of all the entries, the winners list was kept in sealed covers and EC is going to announce the winners on May 4th in the presence of chief guest and Sponsors along with the Bangaaru bottu billa lucky draw winner. All the participants should be well excited until the day of the event. Chess tournament was also conducted for various age groups. Kids had lots of fun playing in the park and on jumpers.
Active women volunteers Shobha kalvakota, Radhika, Ratna, Sita, Shobha have extended their support at the event. About 500 people have attended the event and though the turnout was unexpected, the team made quick arrangements by procuring extra food and pizzas. Participants were provided with energy drinks and T-shirts.
Every one praised the 2013 team for making their day a memorable one and wished them good luck. Prabha Rao said that the new team is so young & energetic and members could see and feel that difference. TASC president Nagesh joined from semifinals and stayed till the end and congratulated the winners. TASC senior leaders Anil Arraballi, Sreekanth Komatireddy, Seetharam Reddy joined the event and helped and advised the new team to conduct the event harmoniously.
The EC requested all the players, cooking competition participants to come and join the May 4 th Ugadi event with their families. Super Singer Super judge Suneetha, Krishna chaitanya and unique mimicry artist Shiva reddy are coming for the Ugadi and Sreeramanavami celebrations. They have announced that there will be lot of surprises awaiting the members at the event. Entry for the event is free for students with valid proof of identity. Free for member’s parents, aunty, uncle, amma, nanna visiting from India. President Nagesh President elect Prasad Rani Secretary Mallik Reddy Treasurer Bayapa Reddy requested the members to visit the website www.manatasc.org for timely updates and to renew their memberships.
