Telugu association of Southern California has celebrated “Mega Musical Extraveganza” on this Saturday, Sep 7th in a grand, outstanding, fabulous style.
About 1200 energetic, enthusiastic telugu crowd graced the occasion. Event started promptly at 7:30 pm and went on with non-stop entertainment up to midnight. The event was packed with artistes from India and dignitaries from India and USA.
The special guest of the evening was Smt. Shanti Prem Reddy, who agreed to grace the occasion as chief guest, first time in the history of 43 years of TASC. Executive committee expressed their sincere appreciation to Dr. Shanti Reddi for her gesture.
This event was also to celebrate Vinayaka Chavithi and Vijaya Dasami and to commemorate that, special prasadam , brought from Kanipakam Vara Siddhi vinayka temple and Vijayawada Durga temple was distributed free to all members.
Prominent tollywood singers from India, Mallikarjun, Gopika Poornima, Hema Chandra and Sravana Bhargavi provided the major part of the evening’s entertainment by singing popular Telugu movie songs, old and new alike, all to the tastes and choice of the audience.
Some of the numbers were so fast beat that audience could not resist themselves from tapping their foot into dances and blowing the whistles with excitement. Live archestra, on instruments was provided by Salt lake city based “Desi Beats”.
Added to the musical entertainment were the dance performances by Ready and Arya fame Vidya Rao, Ankita, and a special and stunning dancer “Chandini”.
There was one surprising and special performance of the evening was by none other than the fearless leader of the telugu association, president Nagesh . He came to the stage dressed as Gabbar singh and danced to the most popular numbers from the power star movie “Gabbar Singh”.
Many from the audience were shouting and screaming in joy for the two minutes of the dance he performed, and per most people in the theater, this itself could be deemed as the highlight of the event.
N.T.R. international award has been handed to Sri. Lakki Reddy Hanimi Reddy garu, by Smt. Nanadamuri Lakshmi Parvathi. In his address to the audience, Dr. Lakkireddy adviced everyone to set aside some portion of their earnings for charitable actions, as we all have social responsibility to do so. He also announced a donation of $10,000 for Telugu Association of Southern California.
Other award recipients of the evening were, Sri A.V.N. Reddy for TASC life time achievement award, Sri Pati Damodara Reddy – TASC life time achievement award, and Sri Satya Duvvuri – “Hindu Dharma Rakshaka” award. Another notable person who received award this evening was a 12 year old girl named “Amogha Koka” for her outstanding accomplishment in telugu and for winning second prize in telugu spelling bee competition at national level.
The event was graced by many dignitaries of telugu community including Dr. Srinivas Nakka, Dr. Mohan Mallam, Sri. Dharma Reddy Gummadi, Veeriah Chundu, Lakshman Koka, Mallik Banda, Jhansi Reddy, Dr. Surya Reddy, Dr. Radha Sharma and many other renowned members.
Another best part of the event was the food that was provided by Dosa Place. Unlimited amount of food was made available to all the members who attended the event, and all through the evening, food and water was continuously made provided to ensure every one could get full and enjoy the show without any growling tummies. Many members personally came up to appreciate the quality of food, which was spicy and authentic Andhra style.
Dr. Prem Reddy is the great grand sponsor of the event. In addition, donations from many others helped make this event possible. President Nagesh and team thanked Dr. Prem Reddy, Lakkireddy Hanimi Reddy, Pati Damodar Reddy, Nanadur Vardhan, Dr. Nakka Srinivas, Srikanth Komatireddy, Ramesh Upadhyayula, Veeriah Chundu, and many others for their donations.
All the members of the executive committee, that includes President Nagesh, President-Elect Prasad Rani, Past-President Srikanth, Secretary Mallik and treasurer Bayappa together, expressed their sincere thanks to all the members who attended the event to make it such a grand success. They also thanked the volunteers who worked relentless in bringing such a quality show to the liking of the audience. President announced that, with such continued support from members, we will do a hatrick of successful events with Diwali that is coming up in November.
