An alleged attempt to rape on a 30-year-old health worker by a senior official of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) at the Saptagiri Satralu cottage block in Tirumala on Sunday created a flutter.
According to souces, a group of health workers on outsourcing basis rushed to the cottage block and rescued their woman colleague from the storeroom when the official was trying to outrage her modesty.
The woman complained to the TTD vigilance officials that the official, Munibala, working as senior assistant with the TTD, had been harassing her to submit to him and making calls to her repeatedly. As she checked into the cottage to attend to her daily choirs, the official reportedly forced her into the storeroom and made the bid on her modesty. Her colleagues further said that they had also recorded the voice of the official.
Interestingly, the official countered the attack, saying that he was ready to prove his innocence. He said that the outsourcing workers hatched a conspiracy against him. He sought the vigilance officials to verify their mobile conversation, which he said was only an official talk, and there was nothing indecent in it. The official further denied the allegations that he tried to flee after committing the attempt on the woman worker. The vigilance officials said that they would enquire into the incident.
