Hyderabad's traffic has been reduced by 80% this season. A drive from KPHB to Secunderabad will generally take more than 40 mts on ordinary days, but now it takes hardly 20 mts. Traffic police are very much happy as their strain was decreased to a great extent. Especially areas like Punjagutta, Secunderabad, Nijampet & Koti are the pain areas for the traffic constables because of never ending vehicle flow from 9 - AM to PM.
"Har saal sankranthi mai traffic bahut kam hoge aur hum bina tension ke duty karsakthe hai" (Every year, in Sankranthi festival we are happy to work without tension due to less traffic) says constable Ali Khan.
Other side of coin, many residents in the flats are enjoying in their home town and thieves are unexpected guests in their houses. The police says it's high time to patrol every nook and corner of the city. In last two days the number of thefts has been increased by 30% in Kukatpally and 40% in Disukhnagar areas as 90% of the residents are from Godavari, Krishna and Guntur districts and celebrating Sankranthi in their home town.
And now Sankranthi is over and the roads of Hyderabad will be back to normalcy.
