There is a mystery surrounding the whereabouts of Satyajit, an influential inner circle man at Sri Satya Sai Central Trust (SSSCT) who was in the eye of a storm during the last days of the Godman. Some say that his wings have been clipped and he has been asked to stay indoors while others say that he has been packed off to Whitefield ashram in Bengaluru.
A close aide and caregiver of Baba, the 33 year old Satyajit was so powerful that he was tipped to take over the chairman of the Trust after Baba’s demise. He was the final authority on deciding Baba’s engagements and darshans. However, his conduct had evoked intense public and media criticism. His secretive and unilateral style of functioning in the handling of Baba’s health condition had triggered among Baba’s devotees and relatives.
As a result, the Trust authorities have since kept him out of the loop and asked him not to make public appearance in view of the threat perception. In fact, it was reported that he was confined to an undisclosed location within Prashanthi Nilayam premises on security grounds.
Some reports now say that he has been dispatched to Bengaluru and kept away from key functions of the Trust. Satyajit, who had joined the ashram at the age of five and was chosen by Baba himself to take care of his personal needs, has now been asked by the Trust not to speak to the media or leak out information about the affairs of the ashram.
Ever since the demise of Baba, the Trust authorities have taken care to see that he does not come into the public glare in view of the negative public perception. In their first media interaction, the members of the SSSCT sought to put Satyajit in his place, saying that he was just an employee of the ashram and did not enjoy any special powers.
