Raju loses bail, to go back to jail

Disgraced former chairman of Satyam Computers B Ramalinga Raju is all set to go back to jail with the Supreme Court on Tuesday canceling his bail on the grounds that he might influence the witnesses if he is allowed to continue on the bail.

The court asked Raju and five other accused in the Rs 14,000 crore accounting fraud in the Satyam, to surrender before the court by November 10. It would mean, Raju would go back to jail in less than three months of being out on bail. He was granted bail by the Andhra Pradesh high court on August 18.

The Supreme Court had earlier issued notice to former Satyam chief, B Ramalinga Raju, asking why his bail should not be cancelled. On September 14, CBI had moved the apex court contending that Raju could influence the witnesses in the case.

The Supreme Court also directed that the trial court complete the trial of Satyam fraud case by July 31, 2011.
