Former union minister and Praja Rajyam Party political affairs committee member P Upendra is dead.
Upendra has been suffering from severe kidney problems for the last few days and he was admitted to a corporate hospital in Hyderabad. His condition turned critical on Monday afternoon and he breathed his last in the evening.
Upendra was the father-in-law of Lagadapati Rajagopal, Congress MP from Vijayawada.
Upendra, once a bureaucrat at the central level, was one of the founder-members of Telugu Desam Party and a close associate of late N T Rama Rao. He was in the TDP for quite long time and even held the position of Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting. However, he resigned from the TDP following differences with party president N Chandrababu Naidu and later joined the Congress.
Last year, Upendra joined the PRP and though he did not contest the elections, he has been associated with the party till now.
