Poetry or Politics? TV Journalist Sparks Laugh Riot

Poetry or Politics? TV Journalist Sparks Laugh Riot

Nobody among hardcore YSRCP supporters thought of this interpretation. No political analyst even remotely viewed it from this angle.

Not even Kamal Haasan himself would have imagined that his words could be interpreted differently. It was only journalist Sambasiva Rao who read a completely different meaning into it.

A few days ago, actor-turned-MP Kamal Haasan, while speaking in Parliament, quoted the lines: “Vastunnay vastunnay Jagannatha rathachakralostunnay…” and went on to say, “Telugu vaallaki ardhamavutundi.”

He used the lines to convey that times are changing and that a political shift or revolution is inevitable. His tone clearly suggested that no one remains in power forever and that change is a constant in politics.

However, what TV5 journalist Sambasiva Rao inferred was entirely different. He assumed that Kamal Haasan was hinting at YS Jagan Mohan Reddy returning to power in Andhra Pradesh.

His reasoning was that the word “Jagan” appears both in Jagan Mohan Reddy’s name and in the phrase “Jagannatha rathachakralu.”

Angered by his own interpretation, Sambasiva Rao went on to reprimand Kamal Haasan, asking him to restrict himself to Tamil Nadu politics and not interfere in Andhra Pradesh affairs.

The video ended up amusing even Kamal Haasan’s critics and has since become a classic example of extreme misunderstanding.

“Doesn’t this journalist know that those lines are from Sri Sri’s poetry, and that Kamal Haasan quoted them in an entirely different context?” wrote one netizen.

“After seeing this man make such statements while wearing a suit, I now fear wearing one myself. People might doubt my intelligence, thinking it’s the uniform of the brainless,” commented another user.
