Opinion: Pros and Cons of YS Jagan's Electoral Image

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken the decision to replace many sitting MLAs to enhance his winning prospects. That's acceptable.

However, what is the situation of the party at the grassroots level? Here is information regarding a survey conducted with a sample of almost 2.6 lakh.

According to it, YCP has an acceptance rate of 50.10 percent, which is commendable, while the TDP and Janasena alliance garnered only 43% acceptance. The remaining support is on the side of BJP or undecided voter, etc.

Therefore, the survey suggests that YCP can comfortably win 115 seats, and a tough fight inevitable in 16 seats. Consequently, the party may potentially lose several seats from the present 151, although it would still secure a substantial victory margin.

Now, let's examine the pros and cons of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy concerning the image he holds before the elections.

Pros:
- Developed government schools
- Village Secretariats
- Volunteer system
- Overwhelming welfare schemes
- Developing sea ports
- Medical colleges
- Support from SC, BC, ST, women and minorities

Cons:
- Capital issue
- Polavaram
- Financial indiscipline
- No significant industry or project to boast about
- Opposition from governmemt and private employees, youth and Kapus
- Lost personal touch with the public

Among all the cons, the most significant one is the last, which was never anticipated from Jagan Mohan Reddy, who came to power with a personal connection to the voters. The majority of voters now have a financial relation with him, owing to the welfare schemes rather than the emotional bond seen in 2019.

It is high time for Jagan Mohan Reddy to address these issues and mend his ways. Any unfavorable or less favorable outcomes could impact his relationship with the BJP as well.
