This is what I think of when I stumble upon the gracious 'exit' of Kalyan.
In other words-Mr Pawan Kalyan.
It is seldom discussed in public forums about anyone who are rich and famous and have misbehaved in public/misinformed the public. And it is unfortunately a sorry state of affairs. Pawan Kalyan is a major star in our Telugu movies and he has his share of success which we all know. The problem is when we mask the personal dust with a paintbrush called celluloid. If you carefully analyze the person's attitude towards filmmaking-from what we know as moviegoers, it doesn’t take a brilliant scholar to connect the dots and transpose as to what the problem actually is.
If we turn back a few years, after string of successes, he decided to become a director, all of a sudden and came out with a total dud called....-whatever. After this, that muchchata was kept behind the screens without an official card. Everyone knows he interferes in the direction department all the time. The person does not have a conviction of purpose.
He never went back to direction officially-as yet!
Couple of years ago, you look at the entire melodrama during Chiranjeevi's padmabushan awards ceremony. Pawan Kalyan's rhetoric to Mohanbabu and an implied dialogue that meant- Chiru join politics and we will be with you! Chiru in this new project was the director for Pawan while Pawan could be the ghost director of the show. Just like how he behaves in real life. Chiranjeevi himself said that part of his reason to join politics was his brother Kalyan. After a lot of dillydallying, PRP comes into play. Pawan's entry as the Yuvarajyam president is like I am being the director of .... whatever.
The entire public appearances, TV interviews, antics on the streets like drinking, bad mouthing every respected politician with a fiery language was all his chance to prove that he still has mettle in 'Directing'. I really loved it when Jayasudha garu condemned his style of talking. The action sequence was fruitful for the party as it helped 'sell' tickets.
When PRP failed, the movie...-whatever failed, the director who days ago had what was seemingly an inexhaustible fire for politics and the spirit to fight for the downtrodden, withdrew from politics. It is a shame that nobody including the serious journalists' question him on this aspect.
He is now gone and they have appointed someone else in his place.
The reasons I say he is a man without conviction is you don’t need to look at the entire rice bowl to see if it is cooked. Similarly, if a coconut is spoilt, you don’t need to drink its entire water, just the smell or taste will tell you the result. When you think about the events that preceded 'Common Man ....whatever'-if anyone of you remember what all that was about- it was in essence a revolt against his brother for fearing that he might use a weapon to harm someone in the family. If one had sense, one would surrender in private, instead he sought publicity to tender his opinion to his elders. Subsequently, gives a soulful interview as a socialist in TV and coins the term Common Man Protection Force -whatever. This has not been a force at all but he did collect funds though and has not done a single 'protection' act for the 'common man.'
These are signs of a disturbed mind, wherein one has an intention to do something but simply cannot see the end of it as the journey involved is impossible to even imagine, forget about endurance. People like Gandhiji have not attained the status that they did because of a dreamy imagination of doing well-they did because they simply believed in it and executed their noble thoughts and endured the journey. Like they say, a diamond is a chunk of coal made good under pressure, if it can't withstand the pressure, it is never good. Great leaders in our state like Chandrababu Naidu, Late Dr YSR are not people who got there just by luck or wishing to do well. In spite of all the criticisms that surround them and their life, without an innate personal quality and a huge desire to serve, they could have never been in the place in which they are for as long as they have been. It is simply put- Impossible. Due credit to them for who they are. Too bad that Kalyan is neither, by that I mean neither in PRP nor in......whatever!
PS- I am not affiliated to any political party.
