Honorable Jaipal Reddy garu, it is indeed an honor to see a Telugu man holding a crucial portfolio of Urban Development at the Union level. Someone learned and experienced like you is the perfect fit for that role. However, it is with great regret that despite you being in such a responsible position, a major blunder is happening in your own state and you seem to be unconcerned about it.
My grievance is regarding the fatal and rather infamous Hyderabad –Vijayawada highway which spans nearly 300 plus kilometers. In my view, it can be called as the spinal cord for a large amount of economic activity and traffic but thanks to the step motherly treatment of your cabinet, it is in shambles. It has been ages since a proposal was made to get the highway into shape but till date, it is only a single road to a large extent.
Not a day passes without accidents in the most brutal manner and ‘raktabhishekam’ seems to be imminent in this highway. There is no lighting atleast till the suburbs of a town and this has raised the scope of accidents in a great way. Sir, as you may well be aware just like the rest of us, this is a very crucial road not just for the daily passenger traffic but even the business is getting hit due to that. One accident is enough to cause a traffic jam that extends to several kilometers and life and time is very unpredictable while driving on this road.
There is a need for an expressway (like the road between Mumbai and Pune) in this section and only then, the problems and the killings can be stopped. Even politically, irrespective of whether the Telangana state occurs or not, there is an urgent need to convert this into an expressway with a bypass facility. I hope this plea of me and many like me reaches you and the necessary action is taken. Unlike your government, you are known to be a man of great honor and integrity. We wish to see that this is true and you make us proud.
