NATA Northeast volleyball tournament was held this weekend at East Brunswick, New Jersey. NATA took care of every aspect of the tournament including free team registration, food and beverages without costing anything for participating teams.
20 teams participated in this event which included 3 teams from New York State and 2 teams from Pennsylvania State. Teams participated in the tournament are from different parts of tri-state including North Brunswick, Avenal, Iselin, Manalapan, Monroe, Woodbridge, Somerset, Edison, Fords, Piscataway, Allentown (PA), Fishkill (NY) and Freeport (NY).
This event took place in beautiful Bi-Centennial Park in East Brunswick, NJ with picnic kind of environment. The 20 teams are divided into 4 groups with 5 teams in each group. Teams had pierce competition in preliminary round where each team played with all other teams in their group. Top two teams from each group progressed to knock-out stage. The four quarter final knockout games heated up the competition and all teams fought hard to earn place in semifinals. The NBT-A, Lehigh Warriors, The Strikers and NJINDIANS made the cut to Semi-Finals.
Semifinals between NBT-A vs. Lehigh Warriors and The Strikers vs. NJINDIANS went down the wire by resulting in favor of NBT-A and NJINDIANS.
The finals between NBT-A vs. NJINDIANS produced an intensive battle where both teams played their hearts out. Both teams won 1 set each in best of three set finals format before rain interruption. In 3rd set, NBT-A team went on to win the NATA Northeast volleyball championship 2013.
Dr. Pailla Malla Reddy, Chief Guest to the event handed over the trophy to the NBA-A team. Dr. Pailla Malla Reddy while speaking at the occasion congratulated the winning team and appreciated the players who were there day long since 7.00 AM in the morning. He mentioned that NATA stands for the Telugu families and announced NATA will become 10000 member organization this year. He thanked the volunteers and organizers who were there since 5.00 AM, constantly working and making sure the event happen smoothly despite rain.
NBT-A captain Raghu Aluri, speaking on the occasion stated that, as soon as they saw NATA volleyball flyer, he and his team started practicing by keeping only one goal in their mind which is “Winning the NATA North East Volleyball Championship” and they played very hard and achieved their goal. He stated that NJINDIANS played very well and wished good luck to NJINDIANS.
All the players were thankful to NATA organization and volunteers for providing them with the opportunity to play in the nicely coordinated tournament. They appreciated the flawless arrangements made including shelter, Breakfast, lunch and beverages. The event was attended by our 500 people including over 200 players.
Under the guidance of Dr. Pailla Malla Reddy and Dr. Sanjeeva Reddy, NATA has organized the Volley ball tournament to increase the awareness among Telugu people; Create opportunities to network and interact among Telugus. NATA has been very active in the Telugu community with its activities to empower the Telugu people and create opportunities for the betterment of Telugu people.
NATA Volleyball Tournament was primarily organized by Mahender Musuku, Ramana Reddy, Ramesh Chandra, Santhosh Pathuri, Anna Reddy, Siva Meka, Srinivas Ranabothu, Sarath Veta, and Raghu Aluri. Scores of volunteers worked hard to make this event not only successful but talk of the REGION.
The event was attended by NATA leaders Mohan Patalolla, Suresh Reddy, Rajeshwar Reddy, Srinivas Ganagoni, Chinna Babu Reddy, Mahesh Bigala, Naresh Chintalacheruvu, Vamsi Koppuravari, Arun Sriramineni, Linga Reddy among others.
