With tears and deep sorrow …..the NATA family deeply regrets sharing the shocking news of untimely demise of our beloved colleague and leader Sri Arjun Reddy Dyapa (54), a founding member and member of core advisory council of NATA (North American Telugu Association). Funeral services for Arjun Reddy are yet to be announced.
Yesterday, he was shot and killed by an unidentified gunman at about 6:30 pm in his Brunswick Pharmacy during what Trenton police investigators are calling a pill robbery incident.
We are totally shocked….I pray God to rest his soul in piece and give strength and courage to his family to go through these very difficult moments. On behalf of NATA I offer our condolences to the family, said AVN Reddy, President NATA.
We can't believe this bad news to such a good leader of Telugu community and generous supporter of many community events, said Malla Reddy Pailla and Samba Reddy, who are very close friends of Arjun Dyapa. We at the NATA team will truly miss him so much and are always there in solace his grieving family members at this deep depressive time.
“Arjun”, as he was known to everyone, was born in Jadcherla village in Mehboobnagar district of Andhra Pradesh. He went to college in Hyderabad and graduated from Kakatiya University in Warangal, with a Bachelors Degree and then immigrated to the US to pursue M.S. Pharma Sciences. He obtained his Registered Pharmacist license and was a pharmacist for more than 25 years and dedicated his life to taking care of other people in Trenton, NJ.
He has a wonderful family including his wife Geetha, a 21-year-old daughter, brothers, sisters, sister-in-laws, and brother-in-laws.
Despite from humble background, he worked very hard with strong resolve and became one of the most successful pharmacy entrepreneurs and national leader of Telugu community activities. He owns and operates few pharmacy stores in NJ area and other businesses.
Arjun Dyapa was an active community leader. He was one of the founders of NATA and a senior leader of several social and cultural organizations in New Jersey as well as American Telugu associations ATA, TANA and was Vice-President of Indo-American Friendship Council.
He lived the life like a king and worked like a soldier, says many of his buddies in New Jersey and New York. He left us with good memories of his friendship, selfless leadership and his doctrine of social service to fellow Telugus and Indians here in the US and back home in Andhra Pradesh. He was a generous donor and supporter of educational and developmental projects, including his biggest donation for the construction of Pharma Alumni Building, Kakatiya University in Warangal. The Kakatiya University alumni in the US and also in India pays tributes for his generous support.
The NATA team has announced cancellation of all its events for next 7 days in honor of Arjun Dyapa. The shocked NATA family declared mourning.
