NATA joined hands with Indian Graduates Students of Rutgers University and initiated new NATA Students Assistance Program in NJ.
As we all know how overwhelming experience it is when a new student comes from India for the first time and it takes a while for them to adjust into the system and get acquainted with many new rules and regulations.
We are proud to announce that this is the first time any major Telugu association ever initiated these kinds of UNIQUE service activities in USA said Advisory Council member, Dr.Pailla Malla Reddy, President, Dr. Sanjeeva Reddy, & Dr. Mohan Patalolla (Jt. Treasurer).
NATA NJ team & Indian Graduate Students of Rutgers initiated this new service activity by providing help in picking up the new students from the Air ports when they come from India the first time and also provide them temporary accommodation until they find a permanent place to live.
NATA also would like to organize Awareness Programs and Seminars to educate these students on the following topics in the future once they are settled.
- Importance of Term Life Insurance
- DUI & its implications
- Health tips from experts
- Encourage them to participate in community services activities
Srinivas Ganagoni (NATA BOD) & Sandeep Reddy Tangirala (Rutgers Student) led the efforts in establishing the relationship with the Indian Graduate Students of Rutgers and NATA team and coordinated the whole program.
NATA NJ Team consists of Rajeshwar Reddy(BOD), Naresh Chintalcheruvu(SC), Sarath Veta(RC), Vamsi Koppuravuri(RC), Krishna Siddhada(RC), Arun Sriramineni(RC), Ravi Dhannapueni (CS Member), Vinod Poluju(CS Member) met with the Rutgers Students team consists of Sai Dinesh Reddy Biddala, Mohini Somu, Sneha Raghunandan, Dheeraj Medikonda and lay out a plan and executed the pickup services smoothly.
The program started from Aug 5 and ended on Aug 23 and nearly 42 new students were picked up from the airports and they were given temporary accommodation by their senior students until they find a permanent place.
Rutgers Students used social media and gathered all the new students’ information such as flight details, arrival date/time those who need assistance and compiled the list.
The group of volunteers from NATA, Rutgers University and others took assignments in picking up these 42 students from the airport.
NATA is planning to replicate these service activities at other cities and University campuses across the country.
