
Citizens Against Corruption - Philadelphia organized a Meet & Greet with Dr. Kiran Bedi and screened the movie on her “Yes, Madam, Sir,” which has won accolades at several international film festivals.
Dr. Kiran Bedi is the super women idolized by many for her integrity, bravery, determination; a full packed hall at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Devon, Pennsylvania on Sunday, September 23rd saw Dr. Kiran Bedi mesmerizing a captivated and thrilled audience as she shared her experiences.
Mr. Ravi Mayreddy welcomed the audience and started the program. YES MADAM, SIR, the inspiring non-fiction feature film screened in the auditorium. Mrs. Lalitha Shetty introduced Dr. Kiran Bedi.
When Dr. Kiran Bedi started to talk, it was easy to see how she has become a celebrated role model for women all over the world. Dr. Kiran Bedi gave an illuminating talk; she talked at length about her role as Police Adviser in the U.N. Department of Peacekeeping Operations. There was an interesting Q & A session asking her questions that ranged from why did she choose to be a cop, what advice could she give young women inspired by her, to what role she can play in anti-corruption movement to her entry into politics. She enlightened the audience about the anti-corruption bill and the support & impact the common man can provide. She also said, "It's all about governance. The principles of governance are similar whether in finance or in public service.” A confident, commanding presence, Dr. Bedi told an audience at this moment she is not looking into joining the politics.
Ms. CS - the only Indian Women Police officer in Pennsylvania & Mrs. Saroja Sagaram felicitated Dr.Kiran Bedi and Mr. Ravi Potluri coordinated the event.
Apart from her community work Dr. Kiran Bedi has founded the India Vision Foundation to continue her work in education, rural development, to help the physically and mentally challenged, sports promotion and prison reforms. Apart from the prisoners themselves, children of prisoners too have benefited greatly through the foundation. They have been provided schooling and the ability to fend for themselves as a result. She introduced India Vision Foundation to audience and more than 10 people came forward to involve and contribute to the foundation.
