Jayaprakash Narayan At Kukatpally- A Spotlight

Jayaprakash Narayan At Kukatpally- A Spotlight

India is the best example for the largest democracy and it can also be rated as the best example for maximum corruption. The credit for that goes to the politicians ruling this country. However, there are times when few individuals emerge from the society and they give some inspiration to the common man. And it is natural that expectations are on the high when someone like that comes. But it turns out to be a major disappointment if that person turns out to be a vegetable.

The focus is on the Kukatpally MLA Jayaprakash Narayan the former IAS Officer who quit his job and joined active politics. JP used to say a lot of things from the start. Being an IAS officer why I should salute MLAs or MPs I can join politics and create a new system. All that was a welcome thought. But what difference did he bring after being voted to power? He has been giving lectures like a regular statesman and what difference did he bring to his constituency Kukatpally.

The stink is horrible and the traffic is horrendous. There are hawkers all over the area making it even more difficult for the regular commuters or traffic to ply. His own constituency people have voted him to power with good affection and it is his duty that he should make the difference felt. Given his long list of statements and the vision he projected, definitely anyone will vote. But he as a leader should be able to show the area as a role model to the other parts of the city.

While miracles are not expected from JP, all it takes is the betterment of infrastructure. Basic necessities like water, sanitation, roads, street lights, welfare for the poor, shelter for those in constituency are some of the basic things which need his attention and as an MLA it is his responsibility to make some difference to the area. But till date the same situation is prevalent in Kukatpally. People are getting BP when they are going there.

They are now beginning to say that except giving speeches in assembly he is of no use. They add that he is just fit to be a professor taking classes for students and youngsters. He can give courses on how to give speeches and how to give theories on creating a difference in the society. But there is no leadership quality in him. If not the infrastructure, atleast few basic things like arranging for more trees in the locality and trying for keeping the surroundings clean are possible within his power.

It is common to blame the MLAs and MPs when they don’t do anything but it is their duty to identify the problems in those areas, put it in front of assembly, get the required funds, make the officials work by applying pressure. It is a fact that not every government official works sincerely and they tend to expect something or the other. But then it is the duty of the elected representative to make things work using his power of discretion.

Already JP has completed half term and if only he had identified the problem, the funds should have reached by now. If he can’t do that then why become an MLA. Ultimately, one thing looks clear- whoever it may be, an IAS officer or a common man, the system will be like that only and no MLA will take the responsibility to do something for his/her people in the honest mode. That way the late P Janardhan Reddy is lot better. He did a lot to Khairtabad especially the poor. All in all, there are no two words in saying that JP is a big failure.
