India Sees 7 Lakh Cases Per Day In The 3rd Wave?

SBI Research claims that the Covid third wave may start in the month of August and will show its peak in September.

The research mentions, "Global data shows that on average third wave peak cases are around 1.7 times the peak cases at the time of second-wave".

That means India may see a shocking 7 lakh cases per day in the third wave as the 2nd wave's peak was around 4 lakh 12 thousand in a  day.

The research report also says that India achieved its second wave peak on 7th May.

"Going by the current data, India can experience around 10,000 cases somewhere around the 2nd week of July. However, the cases can start rising by the second fortnight of August," the report said.

Considering that the vaccination effect would reduce the impact, some other researchers are saying that the third wave wouldn't be that big unless the virus gets mutated and becomes a new fatal variant.

But so far India has vaccinated only 4.8% of the population with both the vaccines while 21.6% are vaccinated with at least one dose.
