Prakash Raj to Play Mahesh Babu's Father Again?

Prakash Raj to Play Mahesh Babu's Father Again?

Prakash Raj first appeared opposite Mahesh Babu as the primary antagonist in Okkadu, a film that went on to define Mahesh Babu’s blockbuster career.

Over the years, the versatile actor has shared screen space with Mahesh Babu in multiple avatars — as a powerful villain (Okkadu and Pokiri), an investigative officer (Athadu), and even as his father (Seethamma Vaakitilo Sirmalle Chettu).

Now, buzz is that Prakash Raj might once again play Mahesh Babu’s father.

Reports suggest that SS Rajamouli is considering him for the role in his much-anticipated globe-trotting action adventure, Varanasi. Discussions are said to be underway, though nothing has been officially confirmed yet.

Interestingly, Prakash Raj has featured in only a handful of Rajamouli’s films. The director is known for frequently changing his supporting cast from film to film, unlike many Telugu filmmakers who repeatedly cast Prakash Raj.

Initially, Rajamouli reportedly approached Nana Patekar to portray Mahesh Babu’s father, but the Bollywood actor declined the offer. Following this, Prakash Raj has emerged as the frontrunner for the role.

For now, audiences will have to wait for an official announcement. Rajamouli is yet to finalize the complete cast, as the shooting of Varanasi is expected to continue until the end of next year.

The film stars Mahesh Babu in the lead, alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran and Priyanka Chopra.
