IANT strongly condemns with abhorrence the shooting at a Gurudwara and offers condolences to all the bereaved families affected by the Oak Creek Sikh Temple Shooting in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.
We are deeply saddened and dismayed at the loss of so many innocent lives. This act of domestic terrorism has left the community in shock and we are counting on law enforcement officials and agencies to make a statement soon, to reassure the community. It was a senseless and shocking violence on a group who were the Gurudwara worshipping and an unbelievable, yet tragic incident that has shaken the Sikhs across the world.
We are also thankful to the support and the messages of condolences pouring in from concerned neighbors and other social and religious organizations. To show our respect to those who impacted by this calamitous event, as well as to share our grief with our neighbors, the Sikh American community of Dallas-Ft. Worth is organizing a candlelight vigil on Wednesday, August 8th at 8.00 PM at the Sikh Temple of North Texas, 506 Gatewood Dr., Garland, TX 75043.
I request all the members of IANT to attend this event and pay our respects to those who are burdened by this incident, as well as to share our anguish with our community. We appreciate your support, and hope that together we can break the chains of ignorance, leading to a better society for us and our future generations.
