About 4 weeks ago, we contacted the Indian Embassy authorities regarding Shashank Pulluri, who was shot in Nashville, TN.
We have been in touch with their close family on a weekly basis. He is out of critical position and has been going through the therapy. Now he is able to recognize people and speak a bit as well. He is walking when someone holds him. In January 09, their family is planning to take the boy to India and continue treatment there.
Currently, his hospital bill has come out to be little over ~$350K. His insurance covers only up to a maximum of $250K. Nashville, local telugu association has contributed some funds. They have created the following website, where people can contribute to this boy.
Shashank is the only one survived in the last 11 shootings on Indians this year in USA.
