Girls swear not to use Facebook again

Fearing the backlash and apologising for her comment, the girl who had questioned the shutdown in Mumbai for Shiv Sena patriarch Bal Thackeray's funeral on Facebook has deactivated her account on the social networking site. Her friend, who had commented and liked the former's comment has also deactivated her account.

Thane-based girl Shaheen Dadha and her close friend Renu, who were arrested by the Maharashtra police for posting comments on Facebook that questioned the shutdown in Mumbai after Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray's death, have regretted their action and pledged never to write on the social networking website.

The women say they were treated well by the police after the arrest, but do think that the arrest was unfair. They say this not in a deluge of angry words, but in monosyllables, clearly weighing everything they say against what they have been through in the last two days.
