If the tourism industry in a country is good then the economy is always strong. However, despite having some of the finest destinations and a rich heritage, India is one country that is miles beyond the rest of the world. Well, here is one primary reason why Indian tourism is suffering.
Usually, when our folks go abroad they get discount and the other privileges that foreign tourists get. There are also special discount passes at a decent price without disparity. But when foreign tourists come here they are looted without any mercy and everyone displays the best of greed.
As such, we are known for our hospitality but this is how we are in reality. Right from government to tourism department to individuals, all are bent upon fleecing the maximum out of a foreign visitor.
Ironically, when non-local Indians only are not spared in terms of exploitation one can imagine the plight of the foreign tourists.
Shameful but true. It is expensive to 10-50 times for foreign tourists to visit even Taj Mahal. Indians are charged less but foreigners are charged Rs 500 plus for ticket to Tajmahal. Right from visiting Taj Mahal to having a sip of Taj Mahal tea in a normal hotel, foreigners are squeezed. Hence our tourism is very weak.
