Here I’m speaking about two castes. And I have right to do so, as my father is a Brahmin and mother is a Kamma. This is my macro level observation about the two.
I am an avid movie buff and always believed in the thumb rule that cinema should be watched as cinema and nothing more. But whether it is the cruel intention of sensationalizing things or manipulating the media to gain mileage, the way controversies are brewing up due to films has been a disappointing trend. The reason for sharing all this is after what has been happening with the film ‘Denikaina Ready. The issue between Brahmins and Kammas is somewhat unusual for me.
On one side, I am seeing Mohan Babu alleging that Brahmins are overreacting and on the other side, I am seeing Brahmins alleging that Mohan Babu has humiliated and disgraced them not only in the film but also outside.
When I spend time with relatives of my mother’s side, they always talk about properties, money, expenditure, gold, lands etc.
When I spend time with people of my father’s side they talk about education, knowledge, degree, academic, wisdom etc.
I am seeing the drastic change between both cultures and have come to conclusion. It is only the genetic traits that continue from generation to generation and not something which comes by birth.
I am not endorsing that Kammas talk only about money and Brahmins talk only about studies. But 90% they behave like that. Maybe that 10% can talk on opposite sides because I have also seen those exceptions. By all this I understand that a person should be characterized by his/her thought and not by his/her birth. Brahmins who speak about knowledge and wisdom should not have behaved like that protesting in front of Mohan Babu’s home or pelting stones on Vishnu. There is an amicable way to deal with it.
At the same time Mohan Babu should not have spoken like that adopting a careless approach. It could have passed peacefully. Whoever is boasting that he is Brahmin or Kamma should introspect. Everything runs on their acts and thoughts and not by birth. I may be wrong but this is the feeling I wanted to share with GreatAndhra. Ultimately, it is coexistence that matters not the quarreling. We require both of them and everyone is important in society.
