
In support of YS Jaganmohan Reddy's day-long fast in the national capital on Tuesday to protest against the "injustice" meted out to Andhra Pradesh in the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal award. YS Jagan fans in Detroit, Lingala Hari prasad Reddy, Ramachandra Reddy, Praveen Gunasani, T Sreedhar Reddy, Srinivas Pedhaparthi, Ramprasad Suryabattla, Srinivas Kompella, Srinivas Raju, Venkat Devara, Vinod Atmakur, Yugandhar, Ramana Reddy, Dayakar, Koti Reddy, Srinivas Chittaluri and Ravi Kiran did dheeksha and expressed their solidarity.
They said that Jagan’s jala dheeksha to highlight farmers' plight who suffered heavily due to cyclones, untimely rains and floods over the past one year and possible adverse impact of the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal on the state is going to put pressure on central and state governments to address farmers’ issues in the state. They appreciated YS Jagan who is following the footsteps of the great leader, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy in fighting to resolve the issues of struggling farmers.
They added the award is a big blow as Andhra Pradesh has lost right over ‘utilisation of surplus water’ and claim that state will now have to be at the mercy of upper riparian state Karnataka. They called on the leaders of all political parties to understand the importance of the issue and join YS Jagan to fight against the injustice in the interest of farmers of AP as the state will prosper only if the farmers are happy.
