Crorepati donor took loan for mom’s treatment

Hyderabad: K Ranveer Reddy, the young lawyer from Nizamabad who donated property worth crores to the government recently to fulfil his mother’s wishes, ironically had to take loan from his friends four months ago for the treatment of his mother, who was battling blood cancer.

The properties were meant for a bigger social purpose and not for footing bills, or so his mother, Nanda Kumari, had told him. For the motherson duo, who survived a good part of their lives trying hard to make ends meet, this determination to save the properties for good use seems almost unnatural in the moneyed times we live in. “I would give tuitions and she would be stitching all day. The money we made was used for my education,’’ says Reddy, who is a law graduate from OU. But why donate so much property to the government? Well, Reddy says he wanted to make the donation most transparently and thought it was best to hand it over to the government which would use it to realise the dream of his mother.
