Off late, there has been an increase in the reporting of rape incidents. This doesn’t mean the rape percentage has grown. Rapes are happening continuously and it is only now that they are being published in various media avenues. We see instances of college girls, female employees, married ladies getting raped.
Earlier also rapes used to happen but none cared and it used to happen even in the remote places. But the turning point came with the Delhi gang rape incident of Nirbhaya and it became national news. People focus increased and seeing this, the media is cashing on the subject and making the most of it.
It is heard that some crime reporters are told clearly to focus on rape daily, this is purely for TRP rates, publicity mileage. Either ways, the bitter secret behind rape news is they are caring again for their own advantages, what a pity. Due to this overdose reporting of rapes, they are corrupting the readers minds and creating fear complex among people and society.
