Bitter Politics And Foul Plays In TANA

Bitter Politics And Foul Plays In TANA

TANA has been the prestigious Telugu Association in North America in the past decades but eventually the internal conflicts and mischief by some selfish members kept its present plight in doldrums.

There is no proper leadership in TANA at present. The elections that happen four months before the convention which takes place once in every two years also caught the attention of many for its pandemonium.

The two groups within TANA started fighting each other and spent around USD 4 Million to bring in 35000 new members and thus double the total member count of TANA. Being busy in pampering the rivalry, they have forgotten to verify and finalize the memberships before April 30th as per By-Laws.

Though the By Laws were planned to change to meet the requirement, with the non cooperation of one of the strong groups in TANA, the amendment didn't happen.

Getting shocked with this, both the groups started the process of damage control. A group has used a coup of some members to bring in no confidence motion and pull down Foundation Chairman and Treasurer from their positions. This is a kind of foul play to try for the voting rights of their desired members. In the meanwhile the opposition group could get a stay order and retained their power.

There are several allegations on the misuse and wastage of funds because of the carelessness of key position holders. About Rs 20 Cr worth Covid relief material was burnt down in a godown in India. Above all, instead of celebrating the convention on July 4th which has been the tradition, this time it is going to be held after a week under the aegis of a controversial leader has become a point of objection for many of the TANA Members.

Many are saying that the plight of TANA is as worst as that of TDP with weak leadership and no unity among the members.
