Call surprising or ridiculous, Leader of Opposition in the assembly N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday called for a movement against arrack in the state.
The call came up in the state assembly, while Naidu was going hammer and tongs against the Rosaiah government during the discussion on the budget for depending too much on sale of liquor in the state. “If you have the guts, you should make a public statement that the government wants the people to drink more liquor to secure more revenue to the state. Then we will launch a movement against the arrack,” he said.
Well, Naidu was a bit confused as usual between liquor and arrack. There is already a ban on arrack in the state and what the state government is promoting is liquor. So, there is no need for any separate movement against arrack. And on liquor, Naidu has no moral right to talk because it was he who had lifted prohibition on liquor.
And that is what Rosaiah told Naidu: “please don’t provoke me to go into the past.” Got it, Naidu?
