I don't say that am supporter of TANA, but I Felt Sorry, When i see a lot of these messages Potraying that TANA is just a Political Organization.
I don't know how much you know about TANA or you Responded to GreatAndhra.com to express your Views, Well TANA did supported Telugu people in USA as well as Andhra Pradesh. I donated Money to TANA in Support of Adopting My Village where i born, to Setup a Free Eye Camp for the Whole village, where these TANA trust assigned Eye Specialists will diagnise each and every patient and do a Free Cataract Eye Surgery if needed..(you might have heard of SANKARA Eye Foundation ). I felt very happy when i 've done this through TANA as i paid 600 $ to adopt a Village, then TANA looked after the rest of the process by Matching up funds with Govt and getting Rest of Funds Aproved from the GOVT of AP.
When it comes to Supporting Telugu people in USA. For each City more or Less there is One Local Telugu Organization BATA, TANTEX, Telugu Association of Greater Chicago, TASC (Telugu Association of Southern California) , which usually takes care of the Local Telugu's by Requesting support from fellow Indians / Americans, When our Beloved MS Student Anil Reddy Middikedi Died Unfortunately in a Fire Accident in SanFrancisco Restaurant where he's working, Mr. Komati Jayaram Garu (Owner of Swagat Restaurant, Milpitas) Talked to Relatives of Mr.Anil Reddy, and Advised us to Setup an Online Donating system to Collect Funds,
We as a BATA (Bay Area Telugu Association) team setup an Online Funding System and Requested the Rest of the Community to Support this Cause, GreatAndhra.com helped us to Post a Message in their Website which got a Huge Response and Collected 40,000 $ to Send Anil's Body back to India and Pay off his Student Loans incurred for his MS Studies.
I heard every Member of TANA has done some kind of Charity to Organization, TANA indeed supported a lot of telugu's.. but please don't expect it'll come forward for each and every single Incident happens in USA . unless they know it or it's a Common Sense that if anybody Requested TANA for help and TANA didn't respond to that.. then you might be right.
I Know some of the TANA Executive Members even Donated Schools to Some Villages in Andhra Pradesh, I believe each and every Local non Profit Organization in USA Comes Forward to Support Our beloved Telugu People who are living in an Alien Land.
