Everyday we see a lot of hue and cry over how vegetarianism should be followed and killing of animals should be stopped. But when it comes to Hyderabad all seems to fall in deaf ears. The reason for that is the report which has come up after an extensive survey done by a reputed organization.
Apparently, they took out a survey on how many chicken get killed each day in Hyderabad. And if their stats are to be believed, a whopping 3,50,000 chicken minimum get killed each day. While some of the noted restaurants in the city like Bawarchi, Paradise, Astoria, Azizia etc form the major chunk of consumers (each restaurant cuts 300 chicken on an average everyday and there are about 100 such big restaurants known for chicken dishes in GHMC area), here is another side.
It is heard that just in Old City and other Muslim dominated areas, there could be nearly 20 lakhs who cannot live without having chicken everyday. Even if it is taken as 1 chicken is sufficient for 4 members, that in itself is coming to around 5 lakhs per day. And here is the final bit, it is heard that just on ‘Kanuma’ festival day the number of chicken that got killed were 8 lakhs as many Hindu families celebrate it with non veg food.
