Historic India Day Parade In Seattle

On the occasion of the 79th Indian Independence Day, history was made in downtown Seattle with the first-ever Indian Independence Parade, hosted by the Consulate General of India, Seattle, ,co-hosted by the City of Seattle and led by Washington Telangana Association (WATA). India’s flag was hoisted for the first time on the Seattle’s landmark - Space Needle.

Under the guidance of Consul General Shri Prakash Gupta ji and under the leadership of WATA Founder Vamshi Reddy Kancharakuntla, entire Indian community came together in an unprecedented show of unity. Organizations from across Pacific Northwest , representing cultures from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, collaborated to make this historic celebration possible.

Mr. Vamshi Reddy, along with WATA President Sandeep Bhushnam and the WATA Board, TTA leaders Ganesh Veeramaneni, Manohar Bodke, Pradeep Mettu - built strong teams to ensure every detail was executed flawlessly. Their vision and dedication brought to life the first-ever Indian flag hoisting ceremony on the streets of downtown Seattle, creating a moment of pride for the Indian American community.

The parade witnessed an overwhelming turnout from both Indian and American communities. Spectators enjoyed vibrant floats representing every Indian state, traditional dances, music, and authentic regional cuisine, showcasing India’s rich cultural and artistic heritage.

The event was graced by dignitaries from India, Washington State, and local governments, who praised the strength of the Indian American community and its contributions to society.

“This is a historic milestone for our community in Seattle. Bringing everyone together under the Indian tricolor is not just a celebration of our heritage, but also a message of unity and shared values with our American friends,” said Vamshi Reddy Kancharakuntla, Founder of WATA.

Vamshi Reddy thanked Ganesh Veeramaneni, Sandeep Bhushnam, Sunil Narayana Shetty, Ranjith, Pradeep Mettu,Pavan Seelam,Krishna Reddy Kotapati, Rama, Raja Chanda, Mitul, Manohar Bodke, Manikyam Thukkapuram, Chandrasena Sriramoju, Pradeep Mettu, Ravinder Reddy Sadu, Vinod Lalanolla, Praveen Muthoju, Vineeth Kamineni, Mounika, Sridhar, Lava Kumar, Pratap, Srini, Vinay, Prakash, Rajendar Ajmera, Shyam Sundar, Prasad Senapathi, Kranthi Reddy, Kiran Vemuru, Pavan Nookala, Shankar Chamakuri, Food sponsors Srikar and Nagamani Chamakuri from Momi Indian Kitchen and all other volunteers and community leaders from Telugu states.

The success of this grand celebration marks the beginning of a new tradition, symbolizing the vibrant and growing presence of the Indian diaspora in the Pacific Northwest.
