Anantha Nageswaran delivered a sobering reality check: India's young workforce faces a structural skills gap that threatens to turn its demographic dividend into a missed opportunity.
The talent crisis is real — and the numbers are alarming.
India needs 25,000 AI Agent Developers right now. Only 3,000 are available — an 88% gap. For AI Agent Architects, the shortfall is even worse at 92%. Over 60% of Global Capability Centres set up in the last two years are AI-focused, and 80% of upcoming GCCs will be AI-led.
Meanwhile, Infosys has partnered with Anthropic. TCS is working with OpenAI. HCLTech has tied up with OpenAI. Reliance was actively recruiting AI engineers at the summit itself. The enterprise AI agents market, currently at $7.8 billion, is racing toward $52 billion by 2030.
The platforms are ready. The money is here. The talent isn't.
ServiceNow reports that 40% of its enterprise customers have activated AI agent capabilities across IT (ITSM, ITOM, ITAM), Customer Service (CRM), Employee Services, Governance (GRC), and Security operations.
Salesforce’s Agentforce platform, launched in 2024, now serves over 18,500 enterprise customers, with annual recurring revenue exceeding $540 million.
