So, No Land For Jaggi?

Spiritual guru and Isha Foundation head Jaggi Vasudev has been in news recently for conducting yoga classes for Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu.

Though the classes were held free of cost, it is said that the government has spent a lot of money to bring in the guru.

The latest news that created quite a stir was the allocation of 400 acres of forest land to Jaggi Vasudev’s Isha Foundation in Krishna district. But now, news is that owing to public pressure, government has withdrawn the decision.

A few days back, Education Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao had visited the said land in the forest region near Kondapalli along with Jaggi Vasudev and it was subsequently announced that the land would be given to Isha Foundation.

But the people have questioned the government’s decision to give away 400 acres of land in lieu of three days of free yoga classes. So, whatever be the other reasons, it is now being said that the government has backed off from giving forest land.

If the decision is final, then it is a welcome decision as it is definitely not appropriate to give forest land to such spiritual organizations.

Of course, if Babu had chosen to give some land or private property to Jaggi Vasudev, then it would have been a totally different scenario altogether.

Of course that leaves many wondering what was free in the story which anyways.
