Telangana Political JAC chairman Prof Kodandaram Reddy, who successfully led the Telangana statehood agitation between 2009 and 2013, by bringing all political JACs, employees and student JACs, various social and caste JACs under one umbrella, recently retired as professor at OU PG College in Secunderabad.
With his retirement, all the Opposition parties, who are trying to corner ruling TRS party, are vying with each other to convince Kodandaram to join their party.
Leaders of Congress, TDP, BJP etc are either making a beeline to his residence or making phone calls requesting him to join their party.
Opposition parties are hopeful that if Kodandaram, who enjoys good reputation and respect among Telangana society, joins their party, it would be like a shot in the arm for them, in taking on ruling TRS, which ignored Kodandaram after it came to power.
Kodandaram too, who is upset with TRS leadership for marginalizing him and not handing over any responsibility in achieving its goal of “Bangaru Telangana”, is said to be in touch with all the parties, examining the pros and cons of each party before taking a final decision.
However, Kodandaram’s political entry is sure to create waves in Telangana at this time when TRS government is coming under fire from all quarters for farmers suicides and for failing to keep up its pre-poll promises.
