Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who forcibly acquired Namasthe Telangana Telugu daily from businessman C L Rajam about eight months ago, is now all set to launch an English daily newspaper as well.
According to highly placed sources, KCR team had applied to the Registrar of Newspapers in India (RNI) for the title “Telangana Today” for its proposed English daily a couple of days ago.
The team is sure of getting the title and the daily is most likely to be launched in summer. “Needless to say, it is the replica of the Namasthe Telangana daily in English language,” sources said.
Apparently, KCR wants the English daily just as a matter of prestige, as his party needs media projection at the national level.
He has to get into the eyes of the NDA bosses and it is not possible through a Telugu daily newspaper. He does not need huge circulation, but only wants projection in the English media, sources said.
