Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has once again proved his expertise in purchase of votes of the opposition parties, as is evident from the just concluded MLC elections under the local bodies’ quota.
This was the reaction of YSR Congress party president and opposition leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
“He displayed his tremendous capabilities in luring the opposition party members and purchasing votes. He seems to have gained expertise in cash-for-vote scheme,” Jagan said.
He said it was unfortunate that the person of chief minister’s stature, who is supposed to safeguard democracy, had resorted to blatant purchase of votes belonging to the rival parties.
“Do you call it a real victory?” the YSRC supremo asked.
Jagan recalled how Naidu was caught red-handed while trying to bribe an independent MLA in the Telangana MLC elections a couple of years ago.
“He used the same tactics in the present MLC elections in Nellore, Kurnool and Kadapa, where the YSRC has clear majority in the local bodies. This is nothing but betraying the democracy,” he pointed out.
