Messiah Of The Minorities?

Messiah Of The Minorities?

Hyderabad: Jaswant Singh, former External Affairs Minister of India once remarked: “Reservations only serve to underscore the differences.”

Yet, unmindful of the damage this can create to an attempt to forge a spirit of unity to the nation; politicians over the ages have used it as an instrument to further their own ambitions.

It appears as if the CM of Telangana, KCR is on a similar mission: that of projecting himself as a sort of messiah of the minorities in order to consolidate his own position.

The latest incentive is the ‘Christian Bhavan’ which he proposes to construct in Hyderabad at a cost of Rs 10 crore.

Similarly, he has promised reservation to the Muslims and also launched the controversial ‘Shaadi Mubarak’ scheme for Muslim women apart from naming Sania Mirza, the brand ambassador of Telangana, a move that must have surprised Sania Mirza herself.

Truth be told, the Christians would be better off with being sanctioned land for burial grounds with the current ones already congested. But granting burial grounds does not have that same aura of spectacle to it, does it?

Very soon, we can expect a ‘Sikh Bhavan’, a ‘Muslim Bhavan’ etc. A great way to develop the spirit of tolerance and unity in the nation!
