It looks like Telangana chief minister is selectively targeting those popular leaders who have not toed his line during the movement for separate state but acted independently.
On Sunday, the police booked popular Telangana activist Vimalakka, her husband Amar and his brother Kura Rajanna on the pretext of reviving their Jana Sakthi militant organisation. The police alleged that the trio were procuring arms to fight an armed rebellion against the government.
All the three leaders were known Telangana protagonists. While Amar and Rajanna were in jail for quite some time before coming out on bail, Vimalakka inspired millions of people during the Telangana movement with her songs under the banner of Arunodaya. She later founded Telangana United Front to fight for the cause of Telangana people.
This has drawn condemnation from all parties. Congress leaders Mallu Ravi and Dasoju Sravan alleged that the Chief Minister was running the government dictatorially by suppressing the voice of agitators. The TRS government would face the ire of the people if it continued its suppressive attitude.
They said the previous united Andhra Pradesh government never resorted to such heinous attacks on Vimalakka like the present TRS regime. They alleged that the ‘Police Raj’ was going on in the State.
