How Is It Possible, Mr Gali?

How Is It Possible, Mr Gali?

The senior Telugu Desam Party leader Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu has a penchant for periodically raising the bar as far as making outrageous allegations against the political opponents is concerned. He has once again lived up to his bizarre reputation.

This time, he has alleged that the YSR Congress Party has paid over Rs 1,200 crore as bribes to secure bail for its leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

And, more interestingly, the former minister even claimed that on the day Jagan was granted bail, nearly Rs 1,200 crore was withdrawn from bank accounts.

Can you believe that? Rs 1,200 crore being withdrawn from bank accounts on a single day? Yes, that is exactly what the senior leader has said.

The common sense should tell us that it is impossible for any one anywhere in the world to draw such a huge amount on a single day.

Specifically, Naidu says that this amount was withdrawn from Jagan's bank accounts in Bangalore.

Now, does he think CBI and RBI officials, probing the alleged illegal assets case against Jagan, will be merrily sleeping when such huge bank transactions take place?

The eccentric leader from Chittoor district, who was a minister in the past holding important portfolios like education and endowments, is known for making outlandish allegations against the opponents, the kind of charges that his own party leaders find it hard to believe.

He has a tendency to reel out figures that come to his mind without bothering about their authenticity.

When he was with the Congress, Naidu used to hurl similar sweeping charges of corruption and bribes against Chandrababu Naidu, the then Chief Minister.

The joke in media circles about Muddukrishnama's press conferences was that like his first name "Gali", the content of his briefings was like gathering hot air without any substance.

Muddukrishnama also made some outrageous allegation that Jagan's mother and YSRCP honorary president Y S Vijayamma had met the Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi before participating in the fast at Janta Mantar organised by the Seemandhra employees.
