The unprecedented action being taken by the Telangana government on the drug peddling racket in the last few days has shaken the entire state.
Suddenly, the entire focus of the media is only on drug racket and even the people have no other topic than drug scam, since it involved famed personalities of Tollywood, besides high profile schools and colleges.
This is not the first time that the drugs have surfaced in the society and also in Tollywood.
Every now and then, the excise and prohibition enforcement department authorities keep catching drug peddlers and even some celebrities in Tollywood, but the issue never attained so much hype now.
And everybody is talking about it as if the drug peddling scam has surfaced only now.
Sources, however, say it is a deliberate attempt by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government only to divert the people’s attention from the sensational land scams of Miyapur and other areas, which involved several big names of the ruling party.
The government needed some issue that would outplay the land scam and the arrest of a couple of drug peddlers early this month came in handy.
By making a big issue out of questioning of some Tollywood personalities, the KCR government successfully diverted the people’s attention.
Now, people slowly forget Goldstone Prasad, his associates and illegal registration of government lands in their name.
The arrested sub-registrars are already out on bail and the issue would fizzle out gradually!
