Dr JP, A Mouthpiece Of Naidu?

Dr JP, A Mouthpiece Of Naidu?

Notwithstanding his intellectual posturing, the Lok Satta Party founder Dr N Jayaprakash Narayan is indirectly campaigning on behalf of the Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu.

If one observes his speeches in the past few weeks closely, it becomes clear that the TDP leadership is using JP's shoulders to fire at the Congress and YSR Congress Party and criticize the bifurcation process.

Dr JP has raised his pitch in attacking the UPA government for deciding to bifurcate the state and accusing it of driving a wedge between the Telugu people.

He has been harsh language and calling upon the people to revolt against the corrupt and inefficient Congress government. He also sees the bifurcation as a conspiracy to divide the Telugu people.

Dr JP's argument is quite strange. During the consultation process, he never spoke about the perils of bifurcation.

Is he not aware of the fact that the UPA had decided to carve out separate Telangana state only after all the major political parties favoured it and gave written commitment.

The TDP also gave its consent letters twice in the past but Dr JP is curiously silent over the TDP's political opportunism in the entire episode.

"It is now clear that Dr JP's goal is to implement the agenda of Chandrababu Naidu," the YSRCP legislators Srikanth Reddy and Golla Babu Rao.

They alleged that the Lok Satta leader had struck a deal with Chandrababu and his media mentor Ch Ramoji Rao.

There has been extensive coverage in a section of the media for Dr JP's meetings in Seemandhra cities and towns where he has been attacking the UPA government for trying to divide the Telugu people for political gains.

The pro-TDP media organisations, including newspapers and news channels, have latched on to Dr JP's campaign, conveniently forgetting the fact this civil servant turned politician was silent all along and has suddenly started raising his pitch against division of the state after the Congress Working Committee's decision on formation of separate Telangana state.

Dr JP has been blaming Congress and YSR Congress Party for the present situation but has never specifically pointed a finger at the TDP though the latter is equally responsible for the decision splitting the state.

As a result, there is a growing public perception that Lok Satta is fast becoming a B-team of TDP and Dr JP is sounding more like a shadow of Naidu these days.

Dr JP never utters a word against Naidu, giving rise to doubts in the minds of the people whether he is acting as an unofficial spokesman of the TDP.

Though he has no political presence anywhere in the state, the former IAS officer hogs media limelight with his grand sounding statements on politics and reforms.
