Right now, the hot topic for debate among political circles is regarding the ministerial berths given to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in Centre.
It would have helped if the portfolios had anything to do with handling public funds and people’s basic needs.
However, senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya has been given independent charge for labour while TDP MP Sujana Choudhary has been made the minister of state for science and technology and earth science.
In the past, Jaipal Reddy who was given the petroleum ministry initially was then shifted to science and technology ministry which led to much criticism.
Usually, the science and technology portfolio is held by the Prime Minister and it does not give the minister any exposure to public.
So, it is said that the minister does not have much to do and the number of files he has to clear are also few.
Given the present scenario, it is hard to assume that the ministers will be able to generate any funds from the Centre for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh respectively.
Incidentally, the portfolio of Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ananda Gajapati Raju also has little to do with people.
